The Hyundai Creta EV has been spotted testing in India. It is likely to be unveiled at the Bharat Mobility Show and is expected to compete with the Tata Curvv EV. The car may offer a range of up to 500 km, Level 2 ADAS, and specs shared with the Hyundai Kona Electric.

The wait for Hyundai's next big EV launch is almost over. The Creta EV has been spied testing on Indian roads, and enthusiasts can expect its debut at the upcoming Bharat Mobility Show. This launch is poised to strengthen Hyundai's foothold in India's growing EV segment. However, the Creta EV isn’t a BEV designed from scratch.

It is based on a modified version of its existing ICE platform.

Unlike the Tata Nexon EV, Hyundai’s Creta EV is targeting a higher segment and will compete directly with the Tata Curvv EV. The Creta EV is expected to come with an impressive range of around 500 kilometers, offering substantial value for buyers seeking longer driving distances.

Hyundai Creta EV: Expected Platform and Specifications

The Creta EV is likely to share its platform with the Hyundai Kona Electric, which is already a proven performer in the EV market. Borrowing from Kona's specifications, the Creta EV may feature:

• A 39.2 kWh or 64 kWh battery pack, depending on the variant.

• A power output of 136 PS to 204 PS.

• Single-motor front-wheel drive configuration.

The Creta EV is rumored to come equipped with Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), making it one of the safest options in its segment. Features like adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and emergency braking will likely be standard. Additionally, Hyundai is expected to load the car with premium features such as a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, and a large infotainment display. These features are already present in the ICE counterpart top variants.

Pricing and Market Positioning

The Hyundai Creta EV is expected to be priced between ₹18 lakh and ₹26 lakh, offering an estimated range of 500 km. However, it faces tough competition not just from the Tata Curvv EV but also from the MG Windsor. The Windsor, which has consistently topped EV sales since October 2024, has shown remarkable growth and is already cutting into Nexon EV’s market share.

Dimension-wise, the MG Windsor fits into the Creta and Curvv segment, as it exceeds 4,000 mm in length. While the Windsor has captured attention with its competitive pricing and practicality, the range battle might be won by the Creta EV or even the Curvv EV, both promising higher mileage on a single charge.
